Things to do in Haputale.
Lipton’s seat famous panoramic viewpoint 1970 m above sea level. This is located about 18 km from Haputale town junction and (7km from Dambetenna Tea Factory) specialization of this point once we get to the summit of Lipton’s seat it will be a view 5 provinces in the country until the ocean when it’s clear. It is said that on a clear day that you can see as far as Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Matara, Badulla, Ratnapura and Monaragala. Even the light houses at Kirinda, Batticaloa and Matara Devinuwara can be seen in clear weather. But Lipton’s Seat is surrounded in mist most of the day and the best time to visit the site is early morning where chances getting a clear a view is much better. Highly recommend the sunrise at Lipton’s seat.
Dambethenne Tea Factory
Tea factory between Haputale and the famous Lipton Seat view point and is built by the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton in 1890. Currently well known as Lipton tea manufacturers.
Even now a days Dambetenne tea factory is the biggest and longest tea factory in Srilanka. This factory will produce 1.2 milion kilograms of tea annually.
Adisham bungalow located four km drive from Haputale town. The monastery run by Benedictine Monks. Build on 1931 This bungalow was designed in the Tudor style, on the lines of Leeds Castle in Kent, with stout granite walls of locally quarried stone.
Adisham is surrounded by birds’ sanctuary and thick forest cover you are in to enjoy nature’s beauty.
